  • Your transportation options for long-distance or international moves will largely depend on the amount of possessions being moved and where you are moving to. Options include ground, ocean, and air transport. International moving experts, like the team at Able Moving, in partnership with Bekins Van Lines, can help you find the most time- and cost-effective mode of transport. 

  • Long distance and international moves differ from local ones, as they often mean moving fewer belongings. Start by sorting and decluttering. What makes sense to leave or donate here, and repurchase abroad? Then consider whether you need to keep anything in local storage. Finally, use a reputable moving company like Able to pack and move transport belongings to your new home. 

  • The item transport portion of an international move can take up to two months. This will largely depend on how far you are moving. Ocean freight (1-3 months) is notably slower than air freight (i-2 weeks), so plan ahead! Ground transportation (only used for cross-border moves) typically takes 3-7 days.
